The students have been working hard this week on their final projects! They took topics from our information literacy unit and are now expanding on the topics and finding new ways to present the information to their classmates. Presentations start next week!
The students completed a treasure hunt to learn and record the notes on copyright laws and fair use policy. We gave them a Thinglink that provided all the resources they needed so that they were getting the correct information. These notes are very important to our students because they will be referenced throughout the year as they complete their PBLs. Students will lose points this year on their PBLs if they violate any digital laws.
The learners were SHOCKED when we showed them the video linked below that outlines exactly how we are tracked throughout the day through technology. To ease their minds, we later talked about how they can limit some of the tracking that occurs. We also discussed the importance of reading the Terms of Use and Privacy Policies to make sure they knew exactly how their personal data was being used. They practiced reading these policies by viewing several social media site privacy policies and terms of use. The hope is that they have become more aware of their digital footprint and will think before they share online.
